Overall Role Objective
The Senior HV Electrical Estimator is responsible for the preparation, submission and management of electrical (predominantly HV/EP&R) tenders allocated. The main objective of this role is to achieve accurate net costs in accordance with the client’s specification and our subcontract documents.

What will you be doing?
Accurately quantify material, plant and labour requirements for allocated electrical/mechanical projects.
Ensure that for pre-designed projects enquiries relative to the supply of materials, plant and labour are satisfactorily dealt with and that relevant information, contractual and trading particulars are distributed.
Undertake the assessment of tender bids from relevant subcontractors and specialists.
Prepare project risk register at tender stage.
Prepare estimates utilising computer aided systems including input of data, ensuring the Estimating Manual procedures are adhered to throughout.
Ensure all tender documents are received as shown on document register.
Produce summary sheet and associated documentation and presentation of package for tender adjudication to meet deadlines.
Prepare client tender documentation on completion of tender, including production of correspondence on exclusions/variations/extension to tender dates.
Attend and contribute at pre-contract meetings and post-tender interviews.
In preparation of tenders, attend site surveys and liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to tender submission status.
Negotiate prices with suppliers and subcontractors.
Work safely in accordance with the company’s current health and safety policy and procedures.
Any other reasonable and relevant duties as requested by your Manager, necessary to meet the ongoing needs of the company.


Is this job for me?
Minimum of three years’ experience in a HV Estimating role or relevant trade qualification and background.
The ability to read, interpret and understand specifications and drawings.
Experience of computerised estimating software.
Confidentiality is essential.
The ability to think ahead, plan and prioritise workload.
The ability to work with the minimum of supervision.
Numeracy and literacy skills.
The ability to work as part of a team.
The ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.
Good communication skills.
A proactive approach to problem solving.

Management and ownership of the commercial and contractual requirements through the life cycle of the project.
Responsibility for interface Client Commercial/Contract Team.
Project Procurement including Sub-contractors.
Conduct cost and risk analysis.
Review all incoming correspondence from Employers, Design Team and /or subcontractors, to identify contractually critical items and to initiate replies.
Manage commercial aspects of subcontractors.
Provide project costing, margin & cashflow reports.
Manage project change order procedures and agree costs with client.

What will I be doing?
• Management of the Electrical Systems package.
• Management of Site Safety in conjunction with the Project Manager and the Winthrop Engineering & Contracting Safety Advisor.
• Drive a focused Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental culture within your team.

What will I be doing?
Responsible for all electrical inspections related to installations, testing, commissioning etc. for the involved project.
• Conduct inspections of all ongoing activities for electrical installations.
• Submit inspection requests in coordination with concerned site/project engineers.
• Prepare daily & weekly QA/QC report regarding inspections, material, Non conformances etc.
• Check the drawings and documents used at site for approvals and compliance with project requirements.
• Ensure that all works are carried out as per the approved method statements and drawings.
• Ensure that all equipment used are calibrated and with valid certificates.

What will I be doing?
• Coordinate the electrical design, liaising with consultants and subcontractors and participate in design reviews.
• Ensure weekly and daily work plans are completed, targets are met and exceeded where possible.
• Maintain close contact with site personnel ensuring that all access, information and materials are available to ensure a productive weeks work.
• Day-to-day management of the site, including supervising and monitoring site personnel.
• Management and coordination of appointed specialist subcontractors.
• Assist the Project Manager with the planning, development and enforcement of programme works.
• Keeping the relevant project stakeholders informed of progress, cost and any other relevant issues.
• Manage safety and quality aspects of the project in accordance with company procedures.
• Liaising with Quality Control and Safety Departments on site.
• Liaising with any consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project.

What will I be doing?
Assist the EHS Manager to achieve Suir’s Critical Success Factor 1.?‘To ensure we are fully compliant in all Health, Safety & Workplace Legislation’?on their Project.


• Manage a team of EHS Professionals, ensuring effective implementation of company policy and procedure.
Ensure the Site-Specific EHS Plans and Site Safety Folders are developed and implemented as per the site requirement.

• Liaise with the Project Manager and Construction Team to ensure that EHS is being effectively communicated and managed on site
• Attend daily and weekly meets are per the project requirements i.e. client and progress meetings etc.
• Become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in all of Suir’s High Risk Activities (HRA’s) and ensure that they are identified and effectively controlled on site.
• Become familiar with and promote the ‘Suir Way’ and its interfaces with Health & Safety.
• Ensure effective use of Flex on your Project
• Ensure the ISO Integrated Management System is effectively rolled out on your Project.
• Ensure regular audits and inspections are conducted on site as per the IMS.
• Ensure all employees and subcontractors are trained appropriately.
• Manage and maintain the RAMS process for development, submittal and approval effectively.
• Report in a timely manner and Investigate incidents when they occur and ensure root causes are identified, mitigated and communicated.
• Report to EHS Manager on the projects leading and lagging indicators.

The Commercial Manager leads a team of Quantity Surveyors and works closely with other areas of the business from the proposal stage of projects to project completion.


• Responsible and accountable for achieving the commercial objectives and targets for all client projects.
• Manage and support all Quantity Surveyors and head office departments, to achieve accurate control and reporting of commercial information.
• Identify and manage the risks associated with each project.

Overall Role Objective
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will take full commercial responsibility and ownership for the project, working closely with the Contracts Manager/Project Manager and the construction team to ensure a successful project is delivered, while maintaining relationships and maximising commercial returns and managing risk.

· Management and ownership of the commercial and contractual requirements through the life cycle of the project.
